Clients often say at the beginning of therapy with me things like “I feel so overwhelmed and flooded”, “sometimes I just feel empty, numb, not there”, “my anxiety can be too much”, “I have a lot of negative thoughts”, and “I just want to be able to cope better with life.” My approach is to provide you a non-judgmental and accepting environment in which you can freely explore these issues and at the same time, learn new and effective ways to cope. I teach tools and coping techniques, provide psychoeducation about the effects of trauma, and focus on the here and now to access self healing while maintaining a compassionate, gentle, and warm attitude.
I know that finding a skillful therapist who is a good fit can be challenging because when it comes to therapy, one size does not fit all. Therefore, I integrate several therapy modalities in my work in order to offer the most effective treatment to you. Some of these modalities include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sensorimotor Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and relational strengths based therapies. In my work with you, I take a holistic approach when considering the connection between your brain, mind, body, and spirit.
